SAN ANTONIO – (Feb. 15, 2024) – Pfluger Architects, a Texas-based architecture firm with extensive experience in educational facility planning, design and construction administration, expanded its design and consulting team across the Lone Star State with the addition of new leaders, including Brenda Swirczynski. A seasoned former educator and curriculum coordinator, Swirczynski will contribute her classroom expertise to a variety of projects as the firm’s Educational Facility Planner.
Swirczynski brings a wealth of expertise in designing curricula, inquiry-based learning and educational experiences to Pfluger, serving as a firm-wide resource based in the Dallas office. As the firm’s inaugural Educational Facility Planner, she serves as a valuable resource and consultant for the firm’s projects, conducting research and developing innovative methods for enhancing teaching and learning environments across the state.
“Contributing my experience as an educator and curriculum designer to classroom and facilities design feels like a natural transition and synergy,” said Swirczynski. “I’m a science teacher–curious and innovative–and I’m eager to collaborate with all of Pfluger’s project teams and communities to create engaging, energetic learning environments.”
A Certified Accredited Learning Environments Planner (ALEP) by the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) and a graduate of the University of North Texas, Swirczynski brings over 25 years of experience in education to Pfluger. She dedicated the last 10 years as an educational designer, coordinating science curriculum, instruction and classrooms for Birdville ISD’s K-5 science program across 21 campuses. Her experience includes assessing, designing and developing innovative science labs and outdoor learning spaces and training nearly 400 teachers to successfully implement the programs.
“At Pfluger, we’re inspiring people to create a more meaningful human experience and building a culture of learning and design,” said Terry Hoyle, Pfluger’s CEO. “We’re pleased to welcome each of our new team members, including Brenda, who are dedicated to creating spaces that inspire and engage. Their leadership, energy and insightfulness will contribute significantly to the communities we serve.”
Swirczynski has served as vice president, state conference chair and a presenter for the Texas Association for Environmental Education (TAEE), is a member and presenter for the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and presents regularly at the Association for Learning Environments Conference (A4LE).
With 114 employees across five Texas locations, Pfluger anticipates further expansion in 2024. The firm’s growth includes work on significant projects throughout Texas, including Burleson ISD’s Game Development & Design School, Texas City ISD’s STEM Center, Gregory-Portland ISD Elementary, Texas Lutheran University STEM Center, Del Valle High School in Austin and three Denton ISD elementary schools, among many others.
