November 18, 2021 (Cleveland, OH) Learning By Magazine and the EDSpaces Conference are thrilled to announce the three winning products of The 2021 ED Spaces Learning By Design Product Innovation Awards program. The Best-in-Show Award was bestowed on KI (Green Bay, WI) for The C-Table Max Personal Worksurfaces; the Second Place Award was given to CEF (Taylorsville, NC) for the Chameleon Classroom System; the Third Place Award was achieved by PowerGistics (Columbus, WI) for the Core16 USB Tower. The People's Choice Award was won by MiEN (Grand Rapids, MI) for the KIO Tinker.
Jurors feel this product is exceptionally sturdy and could transform seating areas where furniture is underutilized and give it new purpose. This adjustable height, practical, mobile table addresses needs for all age levels and allows flexibility for students to select the setting they want, rather than be confined to areas where more fixed worksurfaces might be.
The purpose of the Awards program is to promote and recognize product design that contributes to the quality of education. This years Awards honor new education and contract (non-residential) products introduced to the North American market in the past 24 months. A panel education industry professionals reviewed and evaluated all awards submittals based on specific criteria including: a demonstrated rigor in design for education environments, aesthetics, innovation, sustainability, academic and emotional impact, and much more.
Jurors loved the multitude of options and the ability to reconfigure a room quickly. The magnetic stools, cubbies, available designs, and variable heights were just some of the intriguing qualities in this product for elementary, middle and high school classrooms.
After the initial judging, six products moved forward to become competition finalists – meaning they would have the opportunity to pitch the merits of their products to the jurors live on the exhibit hall floor at ED Spaces. The finalists did an extraordinary job making their awards “Pitch”. Ultimately, the jury picked three products to become the Best in Show, Second and Third place award winners.
The jury felt this product is unique, well designed, and very practical. It seems incredibly user-friendly, especially for students in a school setting. The color coding and small footprint seem like it would make this an easy sell for integrating into an overall classroom design.
Each Product and its design team where recognized at the Opening Plenary Session at ED Spaces 2021 held in Pittsburgh, PA on November 3, 2021. Then over the course of the three-day conference attendees where given the opportunity to vote for their favorite entered product which was given the The People's Choice Award.
Special Thank you to the four jury members who devoted their time and expertise to peer-review all entered projects and later attend the in-person "pitch" from the top finalist on the exhibit hall floor at EDSpaces 2021.
